CompuTracker Corp. Announces Imminent Patent on GPS Datalogging Technology

NEW ORLEANS --- March 2, 2000 --- CompuTracker Corporation, the pioneer in datalogging of location, event, alarm and conditions within a tracked asset, today announced that its patent covering this and related technology will issue in March 2000.

The hardware and related software is intended to be used by any individual or company that has an interest in location and condition reporting of any asset that travels by road, rail or other means.  The concept was originally developed to assist business travelers in the documentation of mileage for the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and associated tax reporting.  The development of short packet data transmissions, using wireless data transceivers developed by Standard Communications Corporation, enhances the system and allows periodic transmission of location and event or alarm condition data in real time.

The CompuTracker system allows the best of both worlds - "real time alarm, condition or event transmission" at extremely low cost per report, as well as datalogging of all condition, event, alarm and location data for later evaluation and analysis. In the event that a real-time report cannot be sent, the units also log this condition (in a "Black-Box" manner) for future analysis.

CompuTrailer units employ a rugged local area network within the trailer – called TrailerCom, which uses a simple two wire cable to read multiple temperature, load and door detectors. Support for this network is already designed into the hardware of CompuTracker Corporation’s CompuTrailer units. The network is used to detect load ruination (by defrosting) or to detect hijacking situations where the door is opened at unauthorized times, as well as to track driver acceptance and relinquishment of loads.
