The inside of the Real-Time module consists of a powerful processor board (not visible here because it is vertically stacked underneath our carrier board); the carrier board which has the power supply components, switched mode power module, smart power controller (with real-time clock and 14 bit microcontroller), battery back-up for the GPS receiver and the GPS receiver.
Alongside this you can also see the secondary carrier which integrates the cellular telephone Data modem module to the unit.
The unit technology really does represent the state-of-the-art in vehicle tracking in terms of power consumption, size and pricing.
Here's the outside of
the CompuTrailer unit showing the GPS and cell 'phone antenna connectors. On
the far side is the power and data connector.
The upper half of the unit houses the electronics - power management microcontroller, real-time clock, main processor board, GPS receiver and cellular data module.
The lower half of the unit houses the battery pack in a self-contained waterproof box section.
